Free Speech vs Incitement topic of program at OU Zanesville
Ohio University Zanesville welcomes Dr. Daniel Jacobson to campus on Tuesday, March 26, at 7 p.m. The program will be held at the Elson Hall Auditorium.
Jacobson’s presentation entitled, “Incitement to Belief: Why (Most) 'Hate Speech' is Free Speech,” is the last of a three-part Liberty lecture series that Dr. Amy White, associate professor of philosophy at Ohio University Zanesville, has organized.
Jacobson works on a range of topics in ethics and moral psychology, especially issues concerning sentimentalism and the moral and political philosophy of J.S. Mill, having published extensively in these fields as well as in aesthetics and political philosophy. He has held fellowships from the National Endowment for the Humanities, American Council of Learned Societies, and the Princeton University Center for Human Values.
“This lecturer series taps into our political nature and helps students explore politics and the concepts of liberty and equality,” White said.
Attendance at Jacobson’s presentation is FREE and open to the community! For more information contact Dr. Amy White at firstname.lastname@example.org by phone at 740-588.1558.
