1)      Spirit Day April 25

Wear your OHIO attire on Thursday, April 25 (rain date), for a chance to win prizes! Show your spirit during Spring Fest and throughout the day! Don’t have anything OHIO? Stop by the campus bookstore April 22-26 and receive 20% all sportswear and 20% off all Hallmark Cards. If it rains on Thursday it will in the Campus Center Conference Rooms.


2)      Student Group Meeting Dates –Ask your advisor & let PR know!

·       Green Bobcats will have their next meeting on Thursday, April 25 at 3:30 pm in the pit.

·       You are invited to join Campus Ministry Club (CMC). We have weekly meetings for spring semester on Wednesdays @ 10 a.m. in the upper pit of Herrold Hall (next to the library). We will be planning a Christian concert in April.  Also like us on Facebook for updates.


3)      “Ohio’s Natural Gas Boom: Origins, Challenges and Implications” Kennedy Lecture April 23

Kennedy Lecture Speaker, Paul Chastko, will be giving 2 lectures, 12:30 pm and 7pm.  Elson Hall Auditorium


4)      Spring Fest April 24

Free food, fun and activities on Wednesday, April 24, 11a-1:30p on the Campus Green, Campus Center if inclement weather. Learn about student groups and support the various fund raising efforts of the students doing community service and awareness projects. A few of the student groups you will see there include Rotaract Club; Multicultural Club; Communications Club & Lambda Psi Eta; Future Educators of OU Zanesville (FEOUZ); LGBTA Alliance; Student Senate and Zane Traces.

5)      Cake Auction April 25 & 26

Mark your calendar now to attend and bid on OU Zanesville’s cake (with $1000 tuition certificate incentive) to support Carr Center’s mission of serving adults and children with disabilities. The OU Zanesville cake will be auctioned at 5:45 p.m. on Thursday, April 25 – cake #208. You can see all the cakes and incentives at

6)      Community dialogues on race and gender. Come join the discussion!

The Nelson T. Gant House is hosting an opportunity for all to talk across a variety of cultural differences to gain understanding, hear varying perspectives, learn and grow personally, challenge personal assumptions, build alliances, broaden historical knowledge, enhance potential for greater community wellness starting at 6 pm on the following days Thursday, April 25, 2013. The Nelson T. Gant House is located at 1845 West Main St. Zanesville.

7)      Help March of Dimes May 2

In the United States, over 500,000 babies are born premature every year. That's 1 out of 8 babies. The student group, GIG, is walking in the annual March of Dimes, March for Babies event on campus May 2. Anyone is welcome to join the Ohio University Zanesville GIG team to walk with us and help raise funds. If you don’t want to walk, consider making an online donation to the team or one of our individual walkers. 8)      Green Bobcats trip open to non-members

The Green Bobcats summer trip to East Harbor State Park will be May 4-6. They will be camping and are helping with community service. Anyone interested in more information can contact Amanda Lanning at


There will be a clean up of Adams Lane on April 25, 2013. It starts at 3 p.m. and lasts until 5 p.m. We need a few volunteers to help and we are offering sandwiches and drinks afterward to say Thank You. Contact Desi Shannon at or Hailey Roby at hr729811@ohio.eduif you have any questions.

11)   Athletic Hall of Fame Dinner

Tickets for the Hall of Fame Dinner scheduled on Monday, April 29, at 6p.m. at Ohio University Zanesville Campus Center are now available. Tickets are $15 each and are on sale at the Information Center at Ohio University Zanesville’s Elson Hall on Newark Road in Zanesville.

13)   Tracer Baseball

The Tracer Baseball team won a very hard fought game with the OU Zanesville alumni team 1-0 Sunday at Tom Checkush Field. Chris Buckey, Jared Larson and Tom Sharrer combined on a one hitter. Nick Bolyard had two hits for the Tracers. Corey Marsh knocked in the winning run with two outs in the bottom of the sixth for the lone Tracer run. Adam Dollings had the lone hit for the Alumni. The game featured 16 former Tracers, all of whom earned their degrees while at OU Zanesville. The 16 Alumni players represented teams from five decades , starting with the late 70's through two graduates from 2012. The Tracers will play OU-Lancaster Tuesday at Tom Checkush Field at 3:30 and host OSU-Mansfield Saturday for a 1:00 doubleheader.
