Facilities Management

The mission of Facilities Management is to create a physical environment conducive to learning and productive working, while showing caring concern for the well-being of every student, employee, and visitor of Zane State College and Ohio University-Zanesville. We are located in The Campus Center, room T470, behind the cafeteria.

The Facilities Department is shared with Zane State College. Our services include grounds, maintenance, custodial, mail and package deliveries, renovations and construction, as well as scheduling outside activities. All of our services are offered to both Zane State and Ohio University-Zanesville.

Facilities News

We have several projects planned for Summer Quarter 08!

As mentioned previously, the Elson Hall boilers are scheduled to be replaced this summer after 40 years of service. The replacement project will commence directly following spring quarter, when the old boilers will be removed through the Elson penthouse by crane, and the new boilers will be lowered in.  Flickinger was awarded the boiler replacement project.

Also following spring quarter, we will be repairing the faulting catch basins along the drive just south of Elson's east entry, as well as repairing the broken concrete/quarry tile on the north patio of Elson. Access to the north entry of Elson will be disrupted during this repair project, and we apologize in advance for any inconvenience.

The ODOT Route 146 widening project will begin sometime late spring or early summer. This project will include construction of a sidewalk along 146 in front of the campus, as well as landscape enhancements (including colonial lights and landscaping).

Robertson Construction as been selected as the General Contractor for the Health Science Hall ESI project. The project will start the Monday after graduation and will be completed at the beginning of September, 2008.

Also to occur this summer, we will be connecting the walking path from the northwest end of the Zane State parking lot to the west end of the current park path. The purchase order for the project is in process, and a date will be determined by the contractor upon receipt of the PO. We will keep you informed as we know more!

The Littick Hall gymnasium will be closed from July 21st throughout August as it undergoes a much-needed refurbishing project. The project will include painting of the gym walls and ceiling, replacement of the divider curtain, as well as sanding, refinishing, and painting new lines on the gym floor.

Plans for Phase 1 of the Elson 2nd Floor Renovation have been determined, and construction is expected to begin on Monday, December 1, 2008.  We will be combining funds from two bienniums for this phase, which will include construction of new chemistry and biology labs. Construction is expected to last through August of 2009.

It's going to be a busy summer, but we will do our best to keep disruptions to a minimum. Thank you for your understanding!
