Facilities News

10.08.09 In an effort to combat the spread of flu germs, Facilities is offering a spray bottle of Sanicare Quat and a supply of paper towels for each classroom/lab and office.  Sanicare is a surface disinfectant; it is not for your hands. The custodians will monitor the supply and replenish as necessary. Please do not remove the bottles from the classrooms or offices.  We have also installed hand sanitizer dispensers  throughout the halls in every building.  The dispensers are filled with an alcohol based hand disinfectant.

09.30.09  Facilities Employee of the Quarter is Perry Smith.  Perry works as a custodian in The Campus Center.

Over the past several months our departmental bargaining unit has experience several bumps; we have lost some custodian (Josh Reynolds and Deb Hardy), have seen the return of a custodian from disability (Jeff Lloyd), and have a new face (Lynn Creighton).  Jeff is working in The Campus Center and Lynn is working on the second floor of Elson.

Replacement lounge furniture was added to the alcove on the first floor across from the coffee cart The older items were moved to the second floor.

The staff lounge on the second floor is ready for usage. Staff only please; the door will be kept locked.

We are getting very close to the  end of this round of renovation. Remaining are a few items that were added on at the end of the project:
1)      The installation of the window at the top of the east stairwell is scheduled for Tuesday through Wednesday 9/29-9/30.  It will be  necessary to close the stairwell, NOT the east entrance,  during the installation for safety reasons.  I will post signs and the contractor will rope off the area.
2)      Several accent walls, in the new area, will be painted on Friday, 10/02. It will not be necessary to close off the area.
3)      The remaining window blinds will be installed on Friday, 10/02.
4)      Guest chairs for the 6 new offices will be delivered tomorrow, Friday, 09/25
5)      A few minor mechanical items will be processed on Friday, 09/25.
6)      The room darkening trespa panels will be installed in the RTV area next Wednesday.

A BIG thank you to all for your patience and cooperation during this round of renovation.  If all goes well the design phase for the next round will start in January....it will be here before you know it.
