Reading Road Trip at Ohio University-Zanesville
Monday-Thursday, June 29 to July 9 10a-noon

Children will travel and explore the world through literature, art, music, food and games while enhancing their reading skills. “The interactive and hands-on activities will be so fun they won’t even know their learning,” says Dr. Beverly Bell, faculty advisor for the project. Native Herbs Native Healing
July Third Thursday, July 16, 7 p.m. Elson Auditorium

Dr. Mohannad AL-Saghir will present Native Herbs Native Healing on Thursday, July 16, at 7 p.m. This presentation will focus on common plants and their non-traditional uses. Echinacea, Sassafras, St. John’s Wort, Sweet Fern, Tulip Popular, Violets, Bull Thistle, Catnip, Cattail, Cherry, Dandelion, Field Horsetail and more will be discussed. Participants will become familiar with characteristics, common names, useful plant parts, distribution, medical actions and uses, as well as methods of use (with appropriate cautions) to cure many common diseases and dosage. You will learn how to determine a plant usage from its shape, how to gather, recognize and buy herbs, and how to make and use herbal medicine.

So You Want to be a Nurse? Camp at Ohio University-Zanesville

The “So you Want to be a Nurse?” workshop is part of a year-long celebration of the 40th anniversary of the associate degree nursing program at Ohio University-Zanesville. If you or someone you know is a graduate of the nursing program , please contact the nursing office with your contact information so we can keep you updated on upcoming events leading up to the anniversary celebration event on Thursday, May 13, 2010.

Back to School Promotion
August 8-14, 2009, 9a-6p, Colony Square Mall

Ohio University-Zanesville will have a booth set up at the Colony Square Mall to provide you the opportunity to register for classes while getting the kids ready to go back to school. The University is waiving the application fee for anyone who applies while at the booth. Ohio University-Zanesville professionals will be on hand to answer your questions and help you register. As an added incentive for those who graduated before 2006, have less than a four-year degree, and have not taken a course at Ohio University in the past three years, Ohio University-Zanesville is providing a fee waiver for one class to get you started. You are invited to be like those who are taking advantage of Ohio University – Zanesville’s free class special and are completing their bachelor’s degree.

  • All OU alumni are eligible for the FREE class offer.
  • Those with a bachelor's degree or higher from another institution are not eligible for the free class offer.

Author Josh LaRue recounts how he was brought back to life at the hospital only to linger in a deep coma for months. Travel with him as he takes participants through his rollercoaster of emotions as he copes with his disabilities to write a book (using Morse Code and a control switch he invented). Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Light the Night Sept 24
Light the Night is coming to campus on Thursday, September 24. Registration begins at 5:30 p.m. One mile walk at 7:45 p.m. Join in supporting the event NOW – by buying a balloon at the Information Center. Student groups and organizations are encouraged to gather a team together with at least five walkers. Gather pledges in person, through easy online registration and email distribution. Turn in donations and pledges early and then enjoy the evening with family and friends to celebrate the research being done to make the quality of life for blood cancer patients better! The Third Thursday event is part of a month-long celebration featuring an art exhibit at the Zanesville Campus Library and programming in classes.
