Ohio University-Zanesville Announces Appalachian Art Show Winners

Appalachian culture is alive and well in the region as evidenced by the 89 pieces of artwork entered in the Appalachian Art Show held at Ohio University-Zanesville recently. The show was part of the Women of Appalachia: Their Heritage and Accomplishments Conference.

The juried art show featured female Appalachian artists from Ohio. Anne Campbell, who served as the Central Ohio Regional Director for the Governor’s Youth Art Exhibition and who is involved with the Armory Legend Gallery in Zanesville, and Russell Merritt, who is a member of the Southeastern Ohio Watercolor Society and instructor for The Works in Newark, Ohio, were jurors for the show. Together they reviewed 89 pieces of various works of art including jewelry, woven products, painting, photography, sculpture created by 11 student artists and 67 adult artists.

Art Show Coordinator Jamie White and Ohio Arts Council representative Caroline Pierson recognized the winners of the art show. The Ohio Arts Council was among the many partners that made the conference possible. The winners of the show are listed below.
