ZANESVILLE – At Ohio University-Zanesville faculty who excel in the area of publication, student evaluation scores, presentations, community service and other professional scholarship are recognized. After a rigorous local and Athens campus review process, the following four faculty members received promotions.
Dr. Deborah Henderson is now a full Professor of Nursing. Henderson has been
with Ohio University-Zanesville since 1987. She is currently serving a
three-year term on the State
of
Ohio Second Chance Trust Fund Advisory Committee for organ and tissue
donation. She
has received external grants to conduct research on incorporating technology
into nursing education. In addition to presenting at the national and
international level and publishing in professional venues, Henderson
developed and facilitates a Service Learning Project in which final quarter
nursing students present community programs to heighten awareness of Organ
and Tissue Donation opportunities.
Dr. Pramod Kanwar is promoted to Associate Professor of Mathematics. Kanwar
joined Ohio University-Zanesville in 1999 and was honored as the Regional
Higher Education Outstanding Professor in 2004. Kanwar is one of the
founding members of Center of Ring Theory, Ohio University and has
authored/co-authored research articles published in journals of
national/international profile. He has also presented his work at several
national or international meetings.
Dr.
Frank LoSchiavo, who is now Associate Professor of Psychology, has 10
publications and over 30 conference presentations to his credit. In
addition, he serves as a court-appointed mediator for the Muskingum County
Court. He has been a valuable part of the Ohio University-Zanesville faculty
since 1999.
Dr. Rita Ng who came to Ohio University-Zanesville in 1999 is now an
Associate
Professor of Communication Studies. Ng has published book chapters and
journal article in culture and communication and has made valuable
contributions to the communication field with her national and international
conference presentations focusing on Confucianism, East and West Values and
Communication, and intercultural research.
The contributions these four faculty and the nearly 50 other faculty members make to providing higher education in our community is among the reasons Ohio University was named among the top 50 public institutions of higher education in US News and World Report for 2005.
