Ohio University-Zanesville is fortunate to have more than 20 clinical sites for its nursing students to receive hands-on learning in the field of nursing. One such partner, Genesis HealthCare System, not only provides clinical instruction, but also enhances the student nurse’s education with lab equipment donations.

The Ohio University-Zanesville Nursing Department recently accepted a donation of pediatric and bedside monitoring equipment from Genesis.

“We realize the importance of having realistic bedside training,” says Dan Vincent, RN, project consultant for Genesis HealthCare System. He went on to explain that the hospital realizes a higher return on its investment when it can find new uses for equipment that has been replaced.

The most recent donation to the Ohio University-Zanesville Nursing Lab includes an incubator; an infant warmer and a Spacelab monitor, which measures EKG, pulse, blood pressure and oxygen level of the patient.

“We really appreciate the cooperation and generosity of our clinical partners,” says Stacey Kinney, Lab Supervisor at Ohio University-Zanesville. “Having equipment like what is used in the clinical setting helps our students feel more confident in performing nursing skills.”
