University-Zanesville professor selected for nursing education simulation
project
Dr. Deborah Henderson, professor of nursing at Ohio University-Zanesville, has been selected as a simulation expert for a National League for Nursing/ Laerdal Medical project. The project is designed to develop a community of nursing educators who can effectively use simulation to promote and evaluate student learning and dialogue with one another in an effort to advance simulation in nursing education. The foundation of the project is a Simulation Innovation and Resource Center, which will use state-of-the-art technology to deliver content and provide resources related to the effective use of simulation.
Dr. Henderson was one of eight nursing professionals selected to participate. More than 150 nursing professionals were considered for the resource center. The successful candidates were selected based expertise, type of program offered, location of institution, size of institution and nursing program, and whether the school is public or private. As part of the project, the selected nursing educators will serve as mentors to individuals from Australia, Canada, Chile, China, Japan, Norway, and Scotland, while also learning about nursing education in these other countries.
