Local Nurse Educator Instrumental in New Web-Based Simulation Innovation Resource Center (SIRC)

The National League for Nursing and Laerdal Medical Corporation announce the creation of new courses available on the SIRC website to assist with faculty education in simulation methods. The total number of courses is now nine.

Deborah Henderson PhD, RN, professor of nursing at Ohio University-Zanesville, authored the course on Simulation Teaching and Learning Strategies.  This course was designed for educators who would like to become more familiar with planning and implementing simulation teaching and learning.  The course contains learning activities, resources for educators and exemplars of implementation strategies.

The Simulation Innovation and Resource Center (SIRC) provides resources to nurse educators in how to design and integrate effective simulations into their curricula. The SIRC website enables nurse educators from around the world to learn how to use simulation to assist in the education of student learning, as well as dialogue with simulation experts. The site can be accessed by simply logging on to the SIRC at http://sirc.nln.org.

Henderson was one of nine experts in nursing education and simulation selected to develop the innovative web-based courses that deliver content through video clips of simulation scenarios and interactive activities. A resident of Somerset, where she serves as an emergency medical technician, Henderson has taught at Ohio University since 1983.
