Ohio University-Zanesville Welcomes Two New Faculty Members
Jared A. Farley and Thomas (Tom) Case joined the Ohio University-Zanesville faculty beginning fall quarter.
Farley,
a native of Cambridge and 1993 of Cambridge High School, earned his doctorate
from Miami University. His dissertation was on the Politicalization of the
American Evangelical Press. He had earlier graduated from Muskingum College (cum
laude) with a BA in History and Political Science. Farley has presented a number
of papers at national and regional political science conferences and he
coordinated 27 Miami undergrads for two months in the University's Summer in
Washington DC program.
As assistant professor of political science, Farley will teach American Government, Political Parties and Elections, Presidency and Law. In addition to his teaching responsibilities, he will continue research and scholarship in areas of religion and politics, separation of church and state and authoritarian personalities. Farley comes to Zanesville after having served as a visiting assistant professor at Miami University’s Hamilton campus.
Case
joins Ohio University-Zanesville as an assistant professor of education. A
native of Toledo, he earned the Bachelor of Arts, Master of Education, and Ph.D.
in Curriculum and Instruction from The University of Toledo. He earned his
initial teaching license at California State University at Los Angeles and his
first teaching position was with the Los Angeles Unified School District.
Case's teaching and research interests include middle childhood education, social studies education, and English language acquisition. He is a McMaster Fellow and travels frequently to Thailand to conduct research and service projects. Here at home he will assume the presidency of the Ohio Middle Level Professors Association in the Spring of 2008.
