A twelve-year employee of Ohio University, Karen Ragsdale was recently honored as Employee of the Month by Ohio University. The award recognizes employees who set the standard for excellence and innovation, who show exemplary individual achievement, contribution and performance beyond their own offices and whose efforts inspire and support the achievement of others. Ragsdale joined the Ohio University-Zanesville family in 1999, transferring from the Athens campus.

“Karen is a valued member of Student Services and a willing collaborator with staff and students,” says her nominator, Monica Jones, director of Student Services at Ohio University-Zanesville. Karen is recognized for her outstanding contributions to Student Services and for her willingness to volunteer to fill in for another department. “Her willingness to learn new skills, her patience and tenacity to complete complex projects in a timely manner all while performing an outstanding job in Student Services is simply amazing,” states Jones in her nomination.

Ragsdale’s unique ability to see the possibility in all circumstances was also cited as worthy of recognition. “I am pleased to see Karen recognized for her contributions to the campus,” says Jim Fonseca, campus dean. “We have an outstanding team and it is rewarding to see our employees recognized by the main campus for their good work.
