Rodeo Theme Art Contest announced at OU Zanesville
Dr. Jimmy Taylor, assistant professor of Sociology, is seeking art work for a book project about rodeos. He invites area artists, particularly high school students, to submit art for any of four categories related to his book project.
Scenarios for the contest include a Neanderthal (or caveman) riding some sort of prehistoric looking beast (something like a bull), an illustration of country music star from the 1970s and 1980s Moe Bandy, who participated in bull riding, a small child cowboy scene and rodeo clown scenes. Because the winning drawings will be used in a publication, successful entrants should stay within these scenarios.
One $300 Grand Prize will be given to the “overall contest winner.” This includes all entries, from both adults and high school students. A $100 prize will also be offered to the overall High School Student Contest Winner. It is possible the best entry could be submitted by a high school student. In this event, the artist would receive the full $400 prize. In addition to the cash prizes, the best entry for each of the four categories will be considered for publication in a forthcoming academic book on rodeo culture.
