Sharrer Promoted to Professor at Ohio University

This academic year, Muskingum county resident Vicki Sharrer advanced to the rank of Professor of Nursing at Ohio University.

Zanesville, OH – This academic year, Muskingum county resident Vicki Sharrer advanced to the rank of Professor of Nursing at Ohio University, receiving recognition for her significant contributions to the university’s mission to excel in teaching, research, scholarship, and public service.

Sharrer has been with the university for nearly 20 years. She has received several grants for her research, has written book chapters, and has presented at numerous professional conferences. Her work has been published in Pediatric Nursing, the Journal of Pediatric Health Care, and the Journal of School Health.

She received her Associate’s Degree from Ohio University – Zanesville, her Bachelor’s Degree from Capital University, and her Master’s Degree from the Ohio State University, where she also completed the post-master’s Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Program.

A member of the Prime Care Pediatrics staff, Sharrer resides in Nashport with her husband Bill and two children, Braden Sharrer and Heather Antritt.

Professor is the highest rank achievable in Ohio University’s faculty rank system, and is attained only after years of scholarly research and service to community and university, while still maintaining a rigorous teaching schedule and advising numerous students.

The review process begins in Zanesville and continues to Athens where the Board of Trustees eventually makes the final determination. Approval must be granted at all levels for successful promotion.
