Instructor of Electronic Media at Ohio University-Zanesville, Shane Tilton, recently presented at The Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (AEJMC) Midwinter Conference.  The Conference brings together researchers, practitioners and administrators from different disciplines concerned with issues of Communication.  Tilton presented The "Chilling Effect" on Digital Development: US vs. ElcomSoft, at the 2006 AEJMC Midwinter Conference, held at Bowling Green State University.

The AEJMC promotes high standards for journalism mass media education.  The annual conference, in which Tilton participated, features the latest in technology, special sessions on teaching, research and public service.

“I joined AEJMC because of the great amount of research produced by the association. The association is connected to my research interest of cyber-culture and computer mediated communication. They foster new research in this field by allowing flexibility to members,” commented Tilton.

“I try to instill in my students a sense of civic responsibility in the stories that they may present. I stress the code of ethics and how it relates to real world experiences,” says Tilton. The standards described by the AEJMC involve training students to be responsible members of the journalist society.

This conference presentation was Tilton’s second. The first one was "Global Fusion." He is also presenting in Las Vegas in April for the Broadcast Education Association's National Conference. He has submitted a paper for the National Communication Association Conference and two papers for an upcoming AEJMC conference in San Francisco.
