Ohio University Zanesville Professor Debuts Running and Winning the Race of Life
NOTE TO MEDIA: Consolo is available for interviews by contacting her at the information at the end of this release.
“Running and Winning the Race of Life,” a production of Dr. Kitty Consolo, assistant professor of health and human services at Ohio University-Zanesville, will debut at the Ohio Association of Track and Cross Country Coaches in Columbus on January 31. The video project is the result of Consolo’s various presentations throughout the state. At the request of her audiences, she worked with Brian Daniels, president of the North Running Club to capture the inspirational story of how she transformed from a shy, sedentary couch potato to one of the nation’s top distance runners.
The DVD covers overcoming obstacles such as asthma and allergies to fulfill a dream of competing in the first ever women’s Olympic marathon trials. Also included are tips and tricks for training based on Consolo’s more than 30 years of competitive experience and her academic training in exercise science.
The video is designed to encourage runners and coaches to focus on the joy and opportunity of running and not to worry so much about one’s place among others.
Consolo has won more than 300 races from the mile to the marathon and still competes as a top master’s runner. She recently founded her own company, Livewell for Life with Dr. Kitty, where she offers seminars to corporations or individuals on topics such as “Exercise is Medicine,” “Reducing Stress,” and “Fit for Life.” Her goal is to help individuals to achieve peak performance in running and walking.
