Ohio University-Zanesville professor speaks out on benefits of exercise
According to Dr. Kitty Consolo, exercise is a form of medicine. Consolo cites research showing how cancer and heart disease occur less often in people who exercise regularly. “Moderate levels of exercise can yield high returns in reducing death and disease,” explained Consolo. She gives an exercise prescription for aerobic exercise, resistance, and flexibility and provides information on proper stretching, the consequences of inactivity, and how to find the perfect running shoe.
In addition to being a popular motivational speaker, Consolo is also a national class runner, educator, and contributing author to major athletic magazines. She is currently teaching courses at Ohio University-Zanesville such as anatomy, physiology, and various health classes. She is also available to help individuals with peak performance in running and walking.
