Grants are considered gift aid that does not have to be repaid.
Awards are based on financial need as determined by the information
gathered through the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
File the FAFSA by early February in order to meet the first priority
FAFSA deadline, which is March 15.
Available Grants:
Federal Pell Grant
Grant is awarded based on financial need. Eligibility is determined
by the U.S. Department of Education. Awards vary up to $4,050
for the 2006-2007 school year.
Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (SEOG)
This grant is part of the campus-based aid program and is based
on exceptional financial need. Students must complete the FAFSA
application by early March.
Ohio College Opportunity Grant (OCOG)
This is a state grant that will be available 2006-2007 academic
year that is for first-time freshman. It will be a prorated amount
depending on enrollment and maximum award will be $2190 per year.
Ohio Instructional Grant (OIG)
This is a state grant based on financial need. During 2006-2007
it will be awarded to returning students only. FAFSA must be
completed by October 1. Awards vary up to $2190 per year.
Ohio University/Regional Higher Education Grant
This grant, awarded by Ohio University, is based on financial need.
Students must complete the FAFSA application by early March.
Workforce Investment Act (WIA) Award
This award is based of financial need and program of study. Eligibility
is determined by county Job and Family Service Agencies, after
Federal Pell and Ohio Instructional Grants are determined. Awards
range up to $3,000 per year for up to 2 years.
