Writing Guide
Writing is a fundamental part of a university education. Faculty will expect students to write clearly and concisely in an academic manner. In addition, employers often name written communication skills as vitally important to an employee’s success. Probation Information
Ohio University requires that students maintain an accumulative grade point average of 2.0 as a minimum standard of academic performance. If a student drops below this minimum standard then they will be placed on academic probation.
University regulations require students to make satisfactory academic progress each quarter. Satisfactory progress means that a student should raise their accumulative grade point average each quarter until it reaches a 2.0 level. Per Ohio University guidelines and procedures, if a student remains on probation and their accumulative grade point average falls significantly, or their deficiency points increase significantly in any quarter while on probation, then they will be dismissed from Ohio University.
Being placed on probation indicates that a student must immediately improve their academic performance. Fortunately improvement can be achieved by utilization of the following academic resources: Tutors, Supplemental Instructors, University College developmental courses, and through accessing resources available in the Student Success Center in Elson Hall room 174. There are many people willing to assist in developing appropriate strategies. If you are placed on probation and searching for help please contact a member of the OU-Zanesville student services staff.
