Probation Information
Ohio University requires that students maintain an accumulative
grade point average of 2.0 as a minimum standard of academic
performance. If a student drops below this minimum standard then
they will be placed on academic probation.
University regulations allow students a maximum of four quarters to
remove themselves from academic probation, provided that they make
satisfactory progress each quarter. Satisfactory progress means that
a student should raise their accumulative grade point average each
quarter until it reaches a 2.0 level. If at the end of the fourth
quarter a student is still on probation, if their accumulative grade
point average falls significantly, or their deficiency points increase
significantly in any quarter while on probation, then they will be
dismissed from Ohio University.
Being placed on probation tells a student that they must
immediately improve their academic performance. Fortunately there are
many people willing to assist in developing appropriate strategies.
If you are placed on probation and searching for help, please contact
a member of the OU-Zanesville student services staff.
