Scholarships
The following information is for students
interested in applying for scholarships to attend Ohio University
Zanesville for the Fall Quarter 2010. Please keep in mind that
you must meet each and every criterion listed below, as well
as graduate from high school during the 2009-2010 school year,
to be considered for scholarships. These scholarships are only
for students attending the Zanesville Campus on a full-time basis
(minimum of 12 credit hours per quarter).
Scholarship Deadline: March 2, 2010
-All students are REQUIRED to submit the following documents NO LATER than
Monday, March 2, 2010:
1. Completed application for admission.
2. $20 non-refundable application fee.
3. Official high school transcripts mailed directly from the high
school to the Office of Student Services.
4. Official ACT/SAT scores submitted directly to the Office of
Student Services. (Please note scores will be considered official
if listed on the high school transcript)
5. Completed Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
ACADEMIC GUIDELINES FOR SCHOLARSHIP CONSIDERATION
Students must achieve the following grades and test scores:
- Full Tuition Award: Minimum GPA of 3.6 on a 4.0 scale OR minimum
25 ACT and/or 1140 SAT (Renewable for a second year)
- Students who want to be considered for the Full Tuition scholarship must also complete and submit the following essay prior to the March 2nd deadline: “Please explain how your involvement in extracurricular
activities, both in and out of high school, has affected your growth
and development as a leader.”
- Renewal Criteria:
Earn a minimum of 45 credit hours during the academic
year with a minimum GPA of 3.3
- Half Tuition Award: Minimum GPA of 3.4 on a 4.0 scale OR minimum
23 ACT and/or 1070 SAT (Renewable for a second year)
- Renewal
Criteria: Earn a minimum of 45 credit hours during the
academic year with a minimum GPA of 3.3
- $1,000 Award: Minimum GPA of 3.2 on a 4.0 scale OR Minimum
21 ACT and/or 990 SAT (Renewable for a second year)
- Renewal Criteria:
Earn a minimum of 45 credit hours during the academic year
with a minimum GPA of 3.0

that meeting the minimum scholarship criteria DOES NOT guarantee
receipt of an award. Final decisions will
be based on a combination of academic achievement, essay
quality, and scholarship availability.
OUZ Multicultural Scholarship
Open to current high school seniors planning to enroll as a
freshman the following fall quarter and who are of Asian-American,
Hispanic/Latino-American, Native-American, African-American
descent or any Appalachian Caucasian whose parents have never
attended college and show financial need. A 2.75 high school
g.p.a. is required. Applicants must reside in the seven county
service area served by Ohio University Zanesville. May be renewed
for a second year contingent upon maintaining an accumulative
3.0 g.p.a. and completing 45 credit hours during the previous
year. Full tuition yearly. Full-time enrollment (12-20 hours
per quarter) required.
Green & White Night Scholarship
Must attend Green & White Night. Recipient chosen from a drawing of those in attendance at the annual OUZ Green & White Night program held annually in November. One quarter tuition.
Superintendent’s Scholarship
Contact Your High School Counselor – Eligible student determined by local school officials. Winning school selected through random drawing held at annual Educators’ Luncheon. One quarter’s tuition.

*Scholarships are based on academic achievement and full-time enrollment status (12 credit hour minimum) unless otherwise noted.
*Students must complete the
Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for all scholarships having financial need as a requirement.

Academic Excellence Renewal Scholarship
This award is a full tuition scholarship for the sophomore year only. Student must have been awarded the Adademic Excellence Scholarship as a freshman in order to qualify. Students must complete a total of 45 quarter hours during the freshman year and earn a cumulative GPA greater than 3.3. (Based on 2006 tuition rates, this award is valued at approximately $4,596.)
The Charles W. Allbritain Education Scholarship
This scholarship was established in 2008 in memory of longtime
educator Charles Allbritain by his wife, Erin. It is available to full
or part-time OUZ students enrolled in the
College of Education who have attained senior status, graduated
from a Muskingum County high school and have a 3.0 GPA.
OUZ Multicultural Renewal Scholarship
This award is a full tuition scholarship for the sophomore year only. Student must have been awarded the Multicultural Scholarship as a freshman to be considered. Applicants must reside in the seven county service area served by Ohio University Zanesville. Students must maintain an accumulative 2.75 GPA and completed 45 credit hours during the previous year. Full tuition yearly. Full-time enrollment (12 - 20 hours per quarter) required.
Brauning-Sammons Trust Scholarship
Open to students who have been accepted into OUZ Associate Degree Nursing Program. Award based on academic achievement with secondary consideration given to financial need. A separate scholarship application needs to be completed in order to be eligible. The application is available in the OUZ financial aid office. Award varies.
The Keystone Scholarship This scholarship was established in
2006 by the J. William and Mary Helen Straker Charitable Foundation
for the benefit of Zane
State
graduates enrolled at OUZ and seeking a bachelors degree that
articulates with the
Zane State degree. Recipients must be enrolled
fulltime, reside in
Muskingum
County, and maintain at
least a 3.0 GPA. The donor would like to meet the recipient.
Charles W. & Charlotte M. Love Educational Fund
Honoring the memory of Edwin L. Roe & Professor Merle Maupin. Open to Muskingum County students enrolled at least half time (6 hours) on the basis of academic excellence. Award varies.
Dean’s Upperclass Scholarship
OUZ student who must have earned at least 24 credit hours with a 3.3 accumulative g.p.a. or above. Must be a full time student. Award varies.
Laura E. Klein Memorial Textbook Scholarship
Students must be enrolled at least 6 hours at OUZ. Awarded on basis of financial need. Award to be used to purchase textbooks.
Lorenz Family Memorial Nursing Scholarship Endowment
Open to Noble County students who are admitted to the associate degree nursing program. Priority given to students who intend to continue with the baccalaureate degree nursing program at OUZ. Awards granted on an annual basis (pending availability of funds) and may be renewed. Award varies.
Marie E. Rodeniser Memorial Scholarship
Must be a graduate of Zanesville High School. Awarded on basis of academic achievement with secondary consideration given to financial need. Full time student. Award varies.
Marilyn Jones Memorial Scholarship
Open to students in the second year of the associate degree nursing program on the Zanesville campus. Awarded on basis of academic achievement. Award varies.
The Dr. Robert B. Morrison Nursing Scholarship
This scholarship was established in 2007 by Mrs. Morrison in honor of
her husband, long time
Zanesville
pediatrician, Dr. Robert Morrison. It is available to full or
part-time students accepted in the nursing program on the
Zanesville
campus and residing in Muskingum, Morgan or Perry County.
To be considered students must have at least a 3.0 GPA at OUZ or have
attained a rank of the top 20% of the class if admitted to the program
from another institution or directly from high school.
National City Scholarship
OUZ student that is attending full-time from the Zanesville community.
North Valley Bank Scholarship
OUZ student from Muskingum or surrounding counties. First priority is given to a member of the OUZ baseball team that is majoring in business or economics and has at least a 3.0 GPA. Second priority is given to any business or economics major with at least a 3.0 GPA.
Ronnica J. Dodson Bethesda Volunteer Scholarship
Open to students who have been accepted into OUZ nursing program. Awarded on basis of academic achievement. Full time student. Award varies.
The Thomas and Melissa Bixler Scholarship
First priority is a full-time OUZ student majoring in special education and who has completed at least two courses in Special Education. Second priority will be given to full-time students who received a high school varsity letter in at least one athletic program, graduated with a 3.4 GPA, and are participating on a varsity team at Ohio University Zanesville.
William P. Ramage Memorial Scholarship
Open to students pursuing a career in special education or be a former OUZ student who is relocating to Athens to pursue the special education degree. Awarded on basis of academic achievement with secondary consideration given to financial need. Must be a full time student. Award varies.
The Albert and Gladys Rosensweet Nursing Scholarship
This scholarship was established in 2007 and is available to
full or part-time degree seeking students accepted for admission into
the nursing program at OUZ. To be considered students must have at
least a 3.0 GPA at OUZ or have attained a rank in the top 20% of the
class if transferring from another institution.
University Outreach & Regional Campuses Relocate Scholarship
The University Outreach & Regional Campuses Relocate Scholarship is a $2500 scholarship. It requires relocation to the Athens Campus as a fulltime student for the Fall Quarter, and is renewable for one year, providing that a 3.0 g.p.a. is maintained. Click here for the form.
The Y-Bridge Scholarship This
scholarship was established in 2008 by the friends of Ohio
University Zanesville to reward those students who give back to the
community through volunteerism while working towards their degree.
Recipients must be enrolled at the Zanesville campus either full or part-time and
maintain at least a 2.8 GPA. Recipients must submit a paragraph to
the Development office describing their involvement in community
service and volunteerism by May 1st.
Zanesville Campus Scholarship
Open to residents of Muskingum County. Awarded on basis of academic achievement with secondary consideration given to financial need. Must be a full time student. Award varies.
Zanesville Campus Employees’ Scholarship
Open to freshmen & upperclassman students. Minimum accumulative g.p.a. of 3.0 with secondary consideration given to financial need. Must be enrolled at least half time (6 credit hours). Award varies.
