For the third year, Ohio University- Zanesville is designated as an Ohio Summer Honors Institute by the Ohio Department of Education.  This is a selective admissions institute with a limited enrollment.

This institute serves as an annual springboard for secondary school students to pursue their artistic dreams. Participants are nominated by their Visual and Performing Arts Instructors. Additionally, students have the option of enrolling in the coursework that could lead to an Associate of Arts degree from Ohio University.

Art, creative writing, dance, digital media, music, and theatre will be the areas of exploration. This summer, for instance, one day will culminate in a trip to Columbus to tour museums and galleries where participants will have the opportunity to talk and work with professional artists and to see a theatrical performance.

The arts must be considered an essential element of education...They are tools for living life reflectively, joyfully, and with the ability to shape the future. -Shirley Trusty Corey
